Q Where is registration located?

On level 3 at the Melbourne Convention Centre. Signage and ushers will assist you to locate all the facilities.

Q When do I receive my name badge and tickets for social events?

Your name badge and tickets will be available for pick up from the Registration Desk during the convention. The Registration Desk opening hours are listed above. It is not possible to receive your tickets or name badge prior to the congress.

Q What is the accepted poster size?

POSTER SPECIFICATIONS
• The space available for each poster will be 1.2 meters (high) by 1.0 meter (wide). Allocation of space will be advised upon registration at the Congress.
• The poster should be laminated and the text should be in font of sufficient size for easy reading at a distance of 1.5 meters.
• You will need to provide a medium to hang your poster on the board (either velcro adhesive or pins).

Q When do I put up / take down my poster? Do you provide tape / pins ?

Posters can be put up on Sunday afternoon from 3pm – 5.30pm and on Monday morning from 7.30am – 10.00am.

Tape and pins will NOT be provided to put up your poster. You will need to supply you own pins or Velcro to put you poster up.

Q Do you want me to send my Power Point presentation to you before the Congress?

Q Where is the speaker’s room located and who do I give my presentation to?

On level 3 at the Melbourne Convention Centre. Signage and ushers will assist you to locate the speakers room. Your are requested to go to the room to check your presentation at least 2 hours prior to your talk.

Q Can I book sight seeing tours when I arrive at the Congress?

The Congress Tour desk will be located on level 2 of the Convention Centre and you can book tours from Sunday and all throughout the Congress week. The website for the Congress Tour Company is www.linktours.com.au.

Q Can I park at the Convention Centre?

700 undercover parking spaces are available at the Melbourne Convention Centre, assessed by Siddley Street, open 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Carpark Rates:
Monday – Friday
Early Bird $7.00 (in by 10.00am)
Maximum fee $20.00 (all day), $5.50 (after 5pm)
Saturday-Sunday $5.50

There is also parking available at the Exhibition Centre (located across the river from the Convention Centre). A special rate of AUD$7.00 applies if you enter the car park before 10am.

Q How far is my hotel from Convention Centre?

All Congress hotels are within walking distance to the Convention Centre. Melbourne also has a free city circle tram which can also be used to get to the Convention Centre. Delegates staying in University accommodation can also take a tram to Flinders Street in the city and then either walk down Flinders Street or take another short tram ride to get to the Convention Centre.

Q Can I view the final program and abstracts before the Congress?

Yes the final program and abstracts will be available on the web site.

Q Will there be internet access available to delegates during the Congress?

Yes there will be free internet access in 3 locations to assist delegates.

Q What is the dress standard for Congress sessions and for social events?

Q What is the weather like in Melbourne in July ?

Winter (June to August) can be cool - alpine snowfields are just three hours from Melbourne by car. The average temperature during July is:

Minimum 6ºC Maximum 13ºC
Minimum 41ºF Maximum 55ºF

Q Is there transport provided to the Welcome Reception or to the Congress Celebration?

The Welcome Reception follows the Congress Opening Ceremony on Sunday evening at the Convention Centre. The Congress Celebration dinner on Tuesday is at Flemington Racecourse and transport will be provided to and from the Convention Centre.

Q How do I notify any changes to my hotel booking?

Notify the Convention Secretariat as soon as possible. Please note that changes should be in writing.

Q Where can I leave my luggage on the final day?

All the major hotels offer luggage services. If it is necessary to store your luggage at the Convention Centre, it may be left with the Cloak Room at the Main Foyer.

Q How do I get to my hotel from the Airport

Melbourne Airport is located 20km or 25 minutes from central Melbourne. A taxi fare is approx. AUD$35. A shuttle bus, SkyBus operates 24 hours a day between the Airport and the city centre. The services runs approximately every 30 minutes at a cost of AUD$13 each way. Drop off point are located throughout the city centre close to hotels and facilities.

Q Is there any financial aid available for registration, accommodation or travel to attend the congress?

The committee has explored all possible funding options through commercial sponsors and government agencies and unfortunately funds are extremely limited. The committee regrets to advise that it is unable to provide any financial support to assist you but hopes that you will be still able to make arrangements to attend the Congress as your participation would be welcomed.
